Carolina Panthers vs Cincinati Bengals

The Carolina Panthers have a date with Bengal's in Cincinnati this week 7. The 4-2 Panthers have found new life since the return of All-Pro wide receiver Steve Smith. The Bengal's on the other hand are reeling after a stunning loss last second loss last week in Tampa Bay send the pre-season AFC pick to 3-2. One team is trying to stop a slide in the AFC while the other fights to establish NFC supremacy. The key to this game will be which quarterback wide receiver match ups will work for big plays and scores

The Bengal's offense has not performed as advertised this year. Long gone are the days of Chad Johnson's pre game boastings and predictions. Chad has 300 yards and 1 touchdown in 5 games and seems more and more frustrated with the lack of big game explosion in Cincinnati's offense. Much of the problem can be traced to the lack of a consistent running game from Rudi Johnson. He is averaging just under 4 yards per rush, but has lacked the long run potential that puts fear into the apposing defenses and opening up the air attack that was the bread and butter for last year's Bengal's.

Think Carolina didn't miss Steve Smith? The Panthers are undefeated since his return and he has taken over the receiving yards per game lead in the league in three short weeks with over 125. Having Keyshawn Johnson across the field has been a great help. His 32 receptions for 419 yards this season has proven secondary's can get burnt by either of Carolina's opposing wide outs. The decision to double team Smith is no longer an easy one. If John Fox's team can turn the Bengal's into a one dimensional team early, their pass rush could make it tough day for Cinci's offense and then it will be purely up to Jake Delhomme to get the ball down field for the Panthers.

Game Pick: Carolina +3.5
