California Golden Bears vs. Texas A & M Aggies

This years Holiday Bowl, played in San Diego, features a battle between 9-3 teams California and Texas A & M. California is a very fast team that had dreams of a BCS Bowl bid to begin the season but with 2 loses in their last three games, and almost loosing to dreadful Stanford, dashed those hopes. Mid season they had 8 straight wins and were playing great but faltered down the stretch. Texas A & M played well this season and capped it off with a huge win at Texas in their final game. This should be a high scoring game as California ranked 14th in total yards this season while Texas A & M ranked 21st.

Texas A & M is led by a couple of great running backs in Mike Goodson (785 yds 4 TD's) and 280 pound Jorvorskie Lane (689 yds 19 TD's). At the helm for the offense is Stephen McGee who had a good year as he passed for 2118 yards and threw 11 touchdowns with only 2 interceptions. It is the running game that makes the Aggies go, as they are tough to stop. The Aggies defense is an improved one this year and are tough against the pass. Their best pass rusher is Chris Harrington but their monster on defense is Justin Warren who had 90 tackles for the Aggies this season.

California boasts a team that had the Pac 10's offensive and defensive players of the year this year in RB Marshawn Lynch and CB Daymeion Hughes. Lynch is expected to declare for the draft after the game as he is seen by many to be the best back in college football as he tallied 1245 yds, 9 TD's and an impressive 6.1 yards per carry. Cal's quarterback is Nathan Longshore (2786 yds 23 TD's 12 INT's) who has good size and a strong arm. His best target is the ultra-speedy WR DeSean Jackson. Cal's weakness is their defense which was ranked 90th in the nation this season. They make a lot of mistakes but have great players in Desmond Bishop, Brandon Mebane, and cornerback Daymeion Hughes whose eight interceptions was tied for third-most in the nation. Cal is disappointed as they expected to be in a BCS Bowl and their shaky defense, which misses many open field tackles, will let them down. Texas A & M will build on their win against Texas and beat the late-season hibernating Bears in sunny San Diego.

Game Pick: Texas A & M +4
