Tennesse Titans vs Houston Texans

Week 8 offers up some big match ups, this may not one of them. The Titans travel to Houston to face the Texans. Both teams have offensively anemic this season and are relying on youthful rosters to build confidence in their programs. The Texans have picked up their game winning 2 of their last three and have found an offensive attack that is actually feared. The Titans are a team trying to find their identity and won't be offered a better chance to do so than this weekend.

The Titans are riding on the potential and hopefully quick pick up of the game of rookie quarterback Vince Young. Young got his first win of the season before last week's bye week and is psyched up to return to his former home town. Young threw for 161 yards and a touchdown in their only win. The upside for the Titans was that Young played mistake free and sustained drives for an offense that needs to up their time of possession from a terrible 27:01 per game. Part of the blame does have to go to the Titan defense that has allowed 134 points in their last 5 games.

Are the Texans getting good? Some would say yes. With a resurgent Wali Lundy putting up palatable rushing stats their last win and David Carr finding star wide receiver Andre Johnson with consistency, the offensive side of the ball looks better. Johnson actually leads the league in receptions with 47. The Texans offensive line has been able to give Carr time and Lundy holes recently and that has been the difference. Rookie and #1 overall draft pick DE Mario Williams is seeing the game slow down midway through the season and could be the catalyst needed to round out Houston into a competitive squad. First they have to beat the teams they should beat and this weekend will be a test of that.
