Moneyline wagering is one of the most popular forms of sports betting. The easiest way to understand this type of sports gambling term is to simply figure out how much you have to bet in order to win $100.00. Moneylines are set with either a plus or minus number. For example in football betting the money-line shows Washington at -120 then it would cost you $120.00 to make $100.00. If New Orleans was +145 then you would make $145.00 for your initial $100.00 wager. Sportsbooks have their own bookmakers who set the moneylines so shop around for the best possible deal before placing your sports wager.
Typically lines are set several days prior to any sporting event and change frequently depending on the action taken on any given side. Watch the line movements at individual books to find out where the best bang for your buck can be found.
