Omaha Game Rules

Omaha Poker is similar to Texas Holdem in using the community cards on the board to build the best possible 5 card poker hand. The difference being that each player is originally dealt 4 initial pocket cards instead of the 2 pocket cards in Texas Poker. A player must also use at least 2 of his pocket cards and 3 community or board cards to create the best possible poker hand, unlike Texas Holdem where there is no need to use both pocket cards.

The betting rounds in Omaha are the same as Texas Holdem:

The dealer signified by the dealer button gives each player their own 4 pocket cards face down. The 1st round of betting begins until everyone has folded, checked, passed or raised. After this round of betting is complete the dealer burns one card and then turns over the 1st 3 community cards to the centre of the poker table face up. Each player now begins to see their best possible poker hand taking form. Another round of betting begins. Each player at this point has the option to place a bet, raise, check or fold. Once this round of betting is completed the dealer burns another card and lays the 4th community card on the centre of the table. Again another round of betting begins with each player either opting to raise, check or fold. On completion of this betting round the dealer burns another card and places the 5th and final community card in the centre of the table. Now each player must create their best possible 5 card poker hand using 2 of their hole cards and 3 community cards. The final round of betting begins. Once completed there is a showdown. Each player must show his best possible poker hand and the winner takes the pot.

Omaha High/Lo
Omaha High/Lo poker rules are the same as Omaha Poker rules with the following exceptions:

*A qualifier of 8 or better for Omaha Lo is required in all high/low split games. If a low hand does not qualify then the high hand wins the entire pot.
